A Visit to the USS Slater

Here's some sights and sounds from visits by our computer campers during our
August 2000 and July 1998 Cyber Haus Computer Camps.

USS Slater
The USS Slater is a Destroyer Escort that was built in 1943. It was commissioned on May 11, 1944 at the Tampa, Florida shipyard. The USS Slater fought during World War II. It fought first in the North Atlantic and then in the South Pacific. In the South Pacific it served in the battles of Saipan and Okinawa.

On August 24, 2000, the Cyber Haus WWW Computer Campers toured the USS Slater. We were able to see a lot more of the ship then we had before. We also found a great effort by the staff and volunteers to get much of the ship in working order, including the engines.

Starboard On July 23, 1998, the Cyber Haus WWW Computer Campers toured the USS Slater. This picture was taken at the top of a stair case on the starboard side of the ship. This is our tour guide, Jessica, and some of our computer campers.
