Baxter's Message to the Class of '65, June 2005

40 years!!!!!! Can you believe it! It’s time again for another Class of ’65 get-together and on behalf of your reunion committee I want to welcome you to our eighth Class Reunion.

Reunions are about memories - reminiscing about old ones and making new ones. Reunions are about friendships - renewing old ones and making new ones. Reunions are about continuing our shared journey through life’s adventures with periodic stops along the way – a journey that began 52 years ago when we went into the first grade.

You remember starting this journey. For some it began in schools like Redfield, Pontoosuc, Egremont and Morewood, a one-room school with both first and second grades. For others it was Briggs, Crane, Hibbard, Nugent or Russell. Do the names Bartlett, Allendale, Dawes, Pomeroy, Abby Lodge or Mercer Ring a bell? And, let’s not forget about Highland, Plunkett, Rice, Stearns, Reed, Tucker and Williams.

In 1959 our journey started to come together. About half of us went to North and half went to South, but for about one third of that first year we shared Central. And then in the fall of 1962 it all came together at Pittsfield High School. And now, 40 years later it is time for one of those periodic breaks in our journey.

For those of you who were able to be here this weekend, we are glad you could make it. Renew those old friendships and make some new ones along with the memories that go with them. For those who could not make it, you are missed and we are thinking of you. And we all hope to see you at the 45th.
