Pittsfield High School
Class of 1965

Kerry's Message of Thanks

Dear Jeanne, members of the committee, and all PHS class of 1965 members who attended the memorial and those who were unable to come,

I cannot find the appropriate words to describe the memorial held on May 20th. Baxter's favorite word was "extraordinary", so I will use that. The event was extra-ordinary (it could not be surpassed by any means) and a wonderful tribute to Baxter and all our classmates that have gone before us.

Thank-you to all who read prayers, special passages, and their own tributes to a dear friend. I am sure Baxter was watching and marveling at the never-ending spirit of the class of 1965--- he loved you all so much. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart.

Love, Kerry and family

P.S. --- The 911th Pittsburgh Air Reserve Base air show (which was initiated by Baxter) will be held July 8 and 9 from 9-5 at the airbase. The event is free and will feature the Navy stunt team. It has grown to be a huge event attended by 40- 50,000 during the 2 days. If you would like to come, contact Jerry Moynihan at (724) 327-2258. He can set you up at the Embassy Suites right across the highway from the base. They have an airport shuttle and you can walk to the airshow, so you do not need a rental car.
I can probably get tickets to the VIP tent which means free food and drinks all day! All are welcome.

--- This note is for Rosemary DiMartino--- please thank your cousin Father Waitekus for presiding at the memorial service. With less priests these days and more duties to perform, I know they are stretched to the max. That was very special that he could lead the service. Not many people know this, but Baxter was an altar boy throughout his youth and even at UMass he was an active member of the Newman Club. It was his faith that helped him through his final days.

--- A final note to Carol Groat and the other singers, and to Wayne Collins for the beautiful music during the service.
