A Cruise on the Dutch Apple II
The Dutch Apple II sails the scenic and historic Hudson River from the Albany, NY Harbor.
Here's some sights from the visit by our computer campers during our July 1999 Cyber Haus Computer Camp.
Campers ready for a cruise. |
This is the downstairs dining room. On our cruise, it was open for people to sit and watch out the windows. We ate lunch from Bruegger's here. |
Albany Skyline. |
This is the area where the Dutch Apple II docks. |
Entry way to the bridge that is for employees only. We didn't know Dan was an employee. :-) |
Bridges, Bridges, Bridges. |
Looking south, down the Hudson River. This is the way we went. |
The bow of the ship. We didn't climb the bow like they did in the Titanic. |
The USS Slater. The Slater is docked right next to the Dutch Apple II. Last year, Darren and Dan and other campers from Cyber Haus toured the USS Slater. Visit our web page. |
View of Renssalear out the window. |
Fort Crailo in Renssalear. They believe that the song Yankee Doodle was written here. Fort Carilo is not actually a fort, it's a house. |
We are looking for alligators like the one they found dead earlier this year. Skeptics believe the alligator was smuggled into the Hudson from the South. |
Downstairs, Kristine salutes from the bow of the ship. |
|
|
A water tower in an industrial area near Albany. |
A wind sock flies high above the bow of the ship. |
A Channel Marker. |
The captain steers the boat and she narrates the trip on the way back from the NY Thruway Bridge to the Albany train bridge. |
A tug boat and an oil barge. The barge was almost empty because it was very high in the water. |
A boat passes by. Everybody waves. |
Kristine gets in touch with her inner child. ;-) |
Homes in the town of Bethlehem. Many were big, comfortable and very expensive. Many of us live in Delmar which is also in the town of Bethlehem, but our houses don't look like these. |
Dan gets busted for impersonating an employee. ;) |
Henry Hudson Park, where the August '99 Campers visited. |
ZZZZZZzzzzzz... (worn out by a great cruise) |
