Here's some sights from the visit by our computer campers during our 1997 Spring Break Cyber Haus Computer Camp.
Located in downtown Albany, New York, the center is a great place to trace the city's growth from 17th Century Fort Orange and enjoy a star-studded performance in the planetarium."I liked the little colonial people that you could put your face in for a picture."
"I remember the big steam pipe that was used for heating
houses near the Hudson River. It carried steam from
boiled water."
"The mural of the moon was really cool! I also like the wood sculpture near the Mural."
"I enjoyed watching the stars in the Planetarium."
We were not allowed to take pictures in the planetarium,
so we can't show you any part of the show. But the tales
about the origin of the stars, moon, and
sun inspired the following stories:
"Hundreds of years ago, Great Uncle Gadget invented
Fire. So now at night you can see everywhere because of
the light from the fire. But the sky was too dull, so
he shot lots of little balls of fire in the air. They
became the stars. Uncle Gadget's neice, Penny, wanted
more light, so there little dog, Brain, jumped in the
sky and became the Sun."
"All the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood gathered at
Christopher Robin's House to decide who was going to
be the brightest object in the sky. They looked at
each other's colors and decided that Pooh was the
brightest. They stacked all of the empty honey pots
and Pooh climbed up into the sky and became the Sun.
At the end of the day as Pooh climbs down, the honey
pots get scattered up into the sky and become the stars
and the moon."
